HoSt Bio-Energy Systems is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to play a pivotal role in our mission to become the market leader in compact on-site hydrogen production systems.
- Salary: $70,000 - $110,000/year DOE
- Location: Vancouver, WA (Hybrid)
- Travel: 40% - 60%

Who You Are: The Business Development Manager is a versatile professional who excels in technical understanding and interpersonal skills. They possess strong analytical abilities to navigate the technical intricacies of the product portfolio, making informed decisions. This candidate should be a strategic thinker with a demonstrated track record in problem-solving and decision-making, capable of developing an economically attractive business case and strong collaborations.
Other qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in business development and market expansion within the industrial sector, preferably in hydrogen, clean energy, or related fields.
- Proven understanding of complex engineered solutions and systems.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Familiarity with market-based pricing strategies and ROI calculations.
- Experience in understanding and utilizing governmental incentives.
- Experience in engaging with customers and partners at industry events and seminars.
What You’ll Do: The Business Development Manager will drive strategic growth initiatives, define the best product-market combinations, expand our customer base, and solidify our position as a provider of reliable, cost-effective, and autonomous hydrogen solutions.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Market Entry and Expansion:
- Identify and explore new market opportunities, customer segments, and regions for Hygear’s product portfolio.
- Develop and execute market entry strategies to penetrate target markets and achieve market leadership.
- Understand the market drivers, business case, and government strategy and incentives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, acting as a long-term partner by ensuring customer performance throughout the lifetime of our products.
- Develop a deep understanding of customer needs and provide tailored solutions to enhance customer satisfaction.
Product Portfolio Management:
- Thoroughly understand Hygear's product portfolio, including containerized hydrogen generation installations, recycling systems, gas purification systems, carbon capture solutions, hydrogen dryers, and more.
- Promote the advantages of our products, including the unique capability to produce carbon-negative hydrogen.
- Develop market-based pricing strategies that offer customers a positive return on investment (ROI) while ensuring competitive pricing for our products.
Sales and Distribution:
- Collaborate with the sales team, regional agents, and distributors to effectively sell products as turnkey solutions or via operational leases with full service and maintenance.
- Represent the company in industry exhibitions, seminars, and relevant networks to maintain and enhance our position as a reliable, innovative market leader.
- Generate social media content, white papers, and up-to-date product brochures.
- Visit customers and network partners on-site to foster relationships and gather market insights.
